Bridge to Nowhere Hike

This is a new event for the troop this year and should be a blast for those of you that like crossing streams.  We will follow the San Gabriel River for most of the way up to the bridge.  We may even be able to watch bungee jumpers at the bridge if they are operating.
 
The patrols will plan their meals at the Monday Night Troop Meeting 9/13.

Here are the details:
 
Friday - Sept. 17th:
05:30 pm - Meet in the St. Hedwig Parking Lot so we can load gear and carpool.
                 (Eat before you leave or bring a sack dinner - no meal will be provided on Friday night)
05:45 pm - Drive to Camp Williams in the San Gabriel Mountains just above Azusa 
                (we went there last year to pan for gold)
              - We will setup camp at Camp Williams and stay there Friday and Sat. nights.
Saturday - Sept 18th:
              - Wake up, have breakfast and drive to the trailhead for the Bridge to Nowhere trail.
                This hike is about 4.5 miles each way (9 mi. for the day) and we will each be carrying our lunch, water and 10-essentials
                in a day-pack for the hike. 
               -  After exploring the bridge and returning to the cars, we will drive back to Camp Williams and have dinner in camp.
                  Spend night #2 at Camp Williams.
Sunday - Sept 19th:
               - Wake up, have breakfast, break camp and drive back to St. Hedwig parking lot arriving about 11:00 am.
 
Make sure to bring (for hike):
    - Hiking Boots with hiking socks and polypropylene wicking sock liners 
      (eliminates friction & moisture that cause blisters)
    - Your 10 essentials (see Boy Scout Handbook, page# 207)
    - Water Bottles - Each person should carry at least 3 liters of water for the day.
       If you bring a hydration system (Camelback, etc) that volume is part of the 3-liters.
    - Rain Gear - (Poncho or rain suit)
    - A Day-Pack to put it all in.  (like a school backpack)
 
Optional:
    - Camera
    - Hiking Stick
 
Also Bring for Use at Base Camp:
   - Sleeping Bag & sleeping pad
   - Mess Kit & Knife/Fork/Spoon
   - Extra comfortable shoes (tennis shoes) to put on after hiking.
   - Small Towel for drying off if you go wading in the river at Camp Williams
   - Scout Handbook for working on Tenderfoot-FirstClass Advancement.
